I would be around Van Dijk, Salah, Mane and Messi for the Ballon d'Or -Mourinho reveals

Portuguese coach José Mourinho gave his tips to this year's Ballon d'Or winner, saying that three of Liverpool's Champions League winners' heroes should be in the

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have seen their appeal for a decade for the world's best player award last year when Croatia and Real Madrid ace Luka Modric won
 the prize.

And while we are not yet in the middle of this year, the discussion is already warming about who should be in contention - especially in the light of Liverpool's
victory over Tottenham in the Champions Cup in Madrid on Saturday.

Mourinho said that Red trio Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are key names - but only the glory in the Champions League is not necessarily enough to
win the most coveted individual prize of football.

"The World Cups and the Champions League and the Euros are the ones that have something to say about it," said Mourinho.

"But Cristiano [Ronaldo] was just Italian champion, [Lionel] Messi was just Spanish champion.

"Liverpool, European champion but not national champion.

He highlighted Liverpool's defensive colossus Van Dijk as a major contender, especially if the Dutchman could help lead his team to glory in the UEFA League of
Nations, first by playing England in Thursday's semi-final in Portugal.

"I think Van Dijk, why not a defender? But he did not win the Premier League despite being considered the best player.

"But if Holland can go to Portugal [in the League of Nations] and win a trophy, a small trophy, but a trophy, which can play a role in the Ballon d'Or decision."

Liverpool's team-mates Salah and Mane are in a similar situation to the African Cup of Nations this month while Messi will play in the America's Cup.

Salah scored 22 times in the Premier League and five times in the Champions League last season while Mane also managed 22 league goals and four in Europe.

These statistics were behind the Argentine Messi, however, who scored 53 goals in all competitions, including 12 in the Champions League.

"Messi and Argentina with the Copa América, Salah and Mane in the African Cup of Nations.

" Salah was better last season than this season i thing, but a European champion. Mane, fantastic throughout the season and European champion, and I think Senegal
 qualified for the final sentence.

"I would go around a bit," added Mourinho.

Mourinho has ruled out other stars like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

"Neymar this season was not good enough with his injury, Mbappe, fantastic season, but the bad Champions League and France did not reach [the League of Nations

"Then I'd be around Van Dijk, Salah, Mane, Messi. I would get around this, "he concluded.

Liverpool's Salah and Mane are expected to line up in Egypt and Senegal, respectively, when the African Cup of Nations begins in Egypt on June 21.

Meanwhile, Van Dijk is preparing to take on England in the opening semifinal of the League of Nations on Thursday - less than a week after securing a Champions
 League win against Liverpool.

Messi is seeking to guide Argentina to an important title when he is captain of the team in the Copa América in Brazil, which starts on June 15.
